AI does not change the amount of work, but rather the nature of it. What this means for employees.  <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">The five minutes are correct. The text is there. But then the real work begins. Are the facts correct? Does the tone match the brand? Are the formulations precise enough? Has the AI invented something that sounds plausible but is wrong?      <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Five minutes of generating turns into 30 minutes of checking, correcting, and adjusting. In addition, there is a problem that many underestimate: AI systems hallucinate. They invent facts that sound plausible but are wrong. References that do not exist. Statistics that no one has collected. Names of studies that never existed.     <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">How often does this occur? That depends on the task. For general texts, the hallucination rate of current models such as <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/introducing-gpt-5-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GPT-5.2<\/a> is around 8 to 11%. With web search enabled, it drops to below 6%. That sounds acceptable, but when it comes to source citations, the picture is different: A <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jmir.org\/2024\/1\/e53164\/PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research<\/a> examined literature searches and found that GPT-4 invented 28.6% of all source citations. With this type of task, the problem persists even with newer models.<br><br>     <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Every AI-generated content needs a plausibility check. This costs time that was not necessary before. The hour has not disappeared. It has shifted: from the keyboard to the head, from writing to deciding and verifying.   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6a5fa759 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6a5fa759\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What the research shows\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-648b875 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"648b875\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1b28a2e0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1b28a2e0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">A r<a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/metr.org\/blog\/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-os-dev-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">andomized controlled study by METR <\/a>examined this year how AI tools influence the productivity of experienced developers. The result is surprising: with AI support, developers took 19% longer than without it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Even more remarkable is the perception gap: Before the study, participants expected a 24% acceleration. After the study, they still believed they had been 20% faster. The difference between feeling and measurement is 39 percentage points.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">A <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/asana.com\/resources\/ai-super-productivity-paradox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study by the Asana Work Innovation Lab<\/a> with over 9,000 knowledge workers confirms the pattern:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1.5 [li_&amp;]:gap-1.5 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-2 pl-8 mb-3\">\n \t<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">62% say AI output does not meet quality standards<\/li>\n \t<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">55% had to completely redo work started by AI<\/li>\n \t<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">65% report more coordination work due to AI<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><br>For intensive AI users with more than 20 hours per week, these numbers rise to 69%, 68% and 90%.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5c8fc2af elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5c8fc2af\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\"><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e251107 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e251107\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Work does not disappear, it migrates\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dba081e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dba081e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">AI does not change the amount of work, but its nature. I observe three shifts again and again:<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>From execution to control.<\/strong>  Previously, employees completed tasks themselves. Today, they control how an AI completes the task. That sounds easier, but it is not. Writing good prompts, providing context, iterating results: This requires practice and precision.   <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>From routine to quality control.<\/strong>  Routine tasks are faster, but the review remains. Anyone who used to write a text themselves knew every sentence. Anyone who approves an AI text must question every sentence. Is this number correct? Does this source exist? Has the AI invented something that sounds convincing? The responsibility for the result remains with the human, and hallucinations make this responsibility more difficult.      <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>From production to decision.<\/strong>  AI provides options. Three text variants, five image suggestions, ten research results. Someone has to choose. Anyone who understands that the nature of work is changing can adjust to it. <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>New skills instead of less work.<\/strong>  Prompting, evaluating, deciding: These are skills that many first have to develop. They do not replace the old skills, they are added to them. <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>Other fatigue.<\/strong>  Routine work is monotonous, but predictable. Decision work is varied, but exhausting. Anyone who evaluates and selects AI results all day is differently tired in the evening than someone who has written all day themselves.  <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">A r<a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC12367725\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ecent study in the Annals of Neurosciences<\/a> examined decision fatigue in the context of AI for the first time. The result: Long-term AI use correlates significantly with mental exhaustion and declining decision-making confidence. The assumption that AI reduces decision fatigue has not been confirmed.<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>The responsibility remains.<\/strong>  If an AI text contains an error, it is not the AI&#8217;s fault. Responsible is who approved the text. The tool has changed, the accountability has not. The <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.presserat.de\/presse-nachrichten-details\/redaktionen-auch-fuer-ki-generierte-inhalte-ethisch-verantwortlich.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">German Press Council<\/a> clarified this last year: Editorial offices bear the press ethical responsibility for all contributions, regardless of the type of creation.   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6006aa24 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6006aa24\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">When AI actually saves time\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d54f9d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7d54f9d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d49a7ae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d49a7ae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\"><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">There are cases in which AI brings real time savings. Here, the quality check is quick because it is objectively measurable. <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>With high volume with the same pattern.<\/strong>  Hundred product descriptions according to the same scheme. Here, the effort for a good prompt is worthwhile because it multiplies. <\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>For tasks that were not done at all before.<\/strong>  Anyone who previously did not create visualizations for customer meetings does not save time, but gains a new opportunity.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-df68ab4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"df68ab4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\"> <\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eedf8e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"eedf8e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Plausibility checks as a new core competence\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-06baee4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"06baee4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d49a7ae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d49a7ae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\"><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">In its guidelines, the <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bsi.bund.de\/DE\/Themen\/Unternehmen-und-Organisationen\/Informationen-und-Empfehlungen\/Kuenstliche-Intelligenz\/kuenstliche-intelligenz_node.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BSI<\/a> warns: \u201cAI systems are often generic and may also contain false but convincingly formulated information.\u201d The <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unibas.ch\/dam\/jcr:e46db904-bf0f-475a-98bc-94ef4d16ad2e\/Leitfaden-KI-zitieren_v2.2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Basel<\/a> makes it clear in its guidelines: \u201cThe products of AI tools are not scientific sources.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">What does that mean in practice? Every AI output needs a check: <\/p><ol class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1.5 [li_&amp;]:gap-1.5 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-decimal flex flex-col gap-2 pl-8 mb-3\"><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Check named sources for existence<\/li><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Compare facts with reliable primary sources<\/li><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Pay attention to topicality, because AI training data is often one to two years old<\/li><li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Check for plausibility with your own expertise<\/li><\/ol><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><br>This review work is new. It costs time.
